While in the South of France, Alex is forced by Yassen and Franco to fight a bull in the bullring. He is told he has to survive ten minutes, but it becomes clear that Franco has no intention of letting Alex leave the ring alive. The bull manages to wound him, but then Alex takes the offensive and runs at the bull, throwing his bullfighter's cape over the bull's eyes to blind it. At the same time, he picks up a banderilla and hurls it at Franco. It pierces him in the shoulder, and Alex escapes.
